FOR INTERNET MARKETING AND COMMERCE
Full day workshop, WV2

Karl M. Goeschka, Martin Manninger, Vienna University of Technology, A

It reflects the technical and organizational experiences from projects as DEMENET (Distance Education, Multimedia Teleservices and Telework, funded by the European Commission), Red Cross Europe and others. The workshop covers various aspects of the WCC ´98: Electronic Commerce (product marketing, tourism and payment systems interface), Software Agent Technology (agent interface), System Design Methodologies, the Engineering and Re-engineering of Information Systems and the Design of Communication Infrastructures. The workshop complements IT&KNOWS, Telecooperation and SEC’98 (Smart Card) conferences. The main target group of participants are developers and decision makers.
Due to the practical oriented nature of the workshop the number of participants will not exceed 30.

Time schedule:
Morning part: introduction, basics and orientation

SPIRE (Software Process Improvement in Regions of Europe) is a European ESSI Project (ESSI Dissemination Action No. 23873) especially addressing small and very small Software Development Companies (SSDs). Given the fact, that the success of software companies hinges on the quality of their software products, which in turn is a function of the quality of their software development process (including managerial and organizational aspects), SPIRE tries to support software process improvement (SPI) in four European regions, approximately 70 SSDs in total will profit directly from this initiative throughout Europe, and hopefully many more from dissemination of the results and the Best Practice Guide produced by the SPIRE partners.
The following countries are participating in SPIRE: Ireland, United Kingdom (Northern Ireland), Sweden, Italy, and Austria. The duration is 18 months. The project in fact started in autumn 1997.
The main objectives are
