PIONEER DAY
AT THE WORLD COMPUTER CONGRESS

The IFIP Congress in Hamburg in 1994 started a new initiative, the Pioneer Day, where pioneers of computer science were given the opportunity to report on their very first developments. It is intended to organize such a Pioneer Day within the IFIP World Computer Congress ´98 in Budapest. Several inventions have celebrated or will celebrate their 50th or 60th anniversaries in the past or next couple of years.
Within the framework of the Pioneer Day we would like to focus on Austrian, Hungarian and international episodes of computer science history. Parallel to the presentations the earliest examples of computers made in Hungary will be on display.
