OCG Typing Certificate
- The OCG Typing Certificate (OTC) is an automated test consisting of a 10-minute text to copy. The deciding evaluation criteria are writing speed and accuracy.
Goal
Writing speed and accuracy are optimized and certified:
- a minimum of 1,000 or
2,000 (depending on the level) of the characters appearing on the screen
must be typed in 10 minutes
- the maximum error quotient is set at 0.49%
There are two levels to choose from:
- New since 1 February 2008! Standard: minimum of 1,000 of the appearing characters in 10 minutes
- Professional: minimum of 2,000 of the appearing characters in 10 minutes
Target group
People who,
- use the computer daily
- have done a 10-finger typing course
- want to get an internationally recognised certificate
The standard
With the introduction of the OCG Typing Certificate, the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) has set an international standard. The requirements for the certificate are the same for all candidates. Regardless of age and previous education, the evaluation of the test will either be a “pass” or “fail”.

Training
The candidate is free to choose either self-study or preparation courses. Participation in a course is no prerequisite for taking a test.
For those who want to participate in a preparation course the Test Centers are the right choice as they offer high-quality courses (like “Computer typing in 4 hours”) for all ages.
Certification
OCG Test Centers throughout Austria offer Typing Certificate tests. Feel free to bring along your own personal keyboard for the test.
OTC Tests can be taken in the languages German, English and French. There are free demo tests available to get familiar with the test system.
When you have successfully completed the test you will receive the personalized OCG Typing Certificate Standard or Professional per mail a few days later.
The certificate will also show the actually achieved number of characters and the accuracy of typing.
