This book presents an overview of activities in the area of semantic technologies and services in Austria. Its main part is an inspiring collection of 22 personal accounts by experts who describe what semantic technologies mean to each of them individually. Further, a report on the situation of the semantic systems sector in Austria indicates strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The publication is the final outcome of the project sem‘base, an awareness measure in the programme FIT-IT Semantic Systems of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT).
