Abstract:

Austria had set an example for the rest of the world in many areas of online administration. The “Guide to E-Government” is intended to provide all those interested with an overview of the developments in Austrian e-government to date. It is structured in such a way as to allow the reader to study each of the various subject areas in greater depth, according to his or her particular interests. Therefore, general matters such as the basis of the system, legal requirements and organisational framework are explained in the first part of the document. The following chapters deal with the individual modules that forming the basis of e-government. The final chapters give details on the specifications and existing tools. Finally, there is a brief explanation of the quality assurance provided by the Austrian e-government quality mark. A list of publications and useful links completes the document. The final remarks are set out in a brief summary.
