International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI)

The International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is the biggest international programming competition for secondary school students. More than 300 participants from more than 80 countries around the world participate each year.

Each country may send up to 4 students to the competition, therefore most countries have national comptitions to select the IOI participants.

Participation

Young people between 14 and 20 who enjoy programming of complex algorithms and who master one of the programming languages C++ or Java.

Concept

Contestants must have the ability to grasp a problem, develop it and write a programme to solve it.

  • Students will upload their solutions to given problems. The solutions are evaluated immediately.
  • The best students will be invited to the first training camp at the TU Vienna.
  • Here they can qualify for the second training camp held in Wörgel, Tyrol.
  • After the second training camp the national competition takes place where 4 participants are determined to represent Austria at the IOI.
