The Austrian Computer Society organises various informatics competitions for pupils and it offers scientific awards for excellent students. The association also supports and participates in thematically related initiatives.
The OCG issues a series of informatics publications. The members' magazine OCG Journal reports several times a year on the association's activities and on current, informatics-related topics.
Audits and certifications for companies and institutions
The OCG was accredited as Certification Body for the ISO/IEC 27001 standard, the standard for the certification of information security management systems (ISMS) by the Ministry of Science (BMWFJ). In February 2020 the OCG was accredited Qualifizierte Stelle according to the Network and Information Security Act (NISG) by the Ministry of the Interior.
The Austrian Computer Society organises personal certifications in the ICT field. The OCG is the sole certification body in Austria for the ICDL (International Certification of Digital Literacy), formerly known as ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence). The OCG also offers self-developed OCG certificates in various IT areas.
The OCG offers various coding and programming courses for children and young people in summer. In 2023 the course Ethical Hacking was offered for the first time.
Courses and workshops on AI, robotics and coding
Through our project work, the OCG has developed expertise in the area of teaching AI, robotics and programming to different target groups, especially educational staff and pupils. The OCG regularly offers workshops, lectures, and further training on these topics.
